Spent this weekend at the beach with friends. I don’t recall how this even came up, but we ended up talking about “9 to 5 (Morning Train)” by Sheena Easton. For your learning pleasure, the parenthetical part was added later to avoid confusion with the Dolly Parton song “9 to 5” because they both came out in the same year. Anyway, we got into a comedically (is that a word?) heavy discussion about the accompanying music video for it. My recollection is that Sheena Easton was shown vacuuming and doing housework in the video, as she waits for her man to come home. However, after doing a lot of Internet Searches (note, Mr. Brian, that I did not call it “Googling”) we were unable to find the video with her vacuuming. The video we found shows her riding a train, with some suggestive moves to boot. This stupid song became a topic of discussion for the rest of the weekend.
Need I even have to mention that I really HATE this song??? And people kept bringing it up! Hence, I had to ruin your day by making you think about it too!
And with that, for your enjoyment, check out this link, which is not the Sheena Easton video lest you have concern around watching it. It’s actually pretty funny:

On a slightly related (or not) topic, yesterday we were talking about “Brand New Key” by Melanie, because we were in a store that sold some vintage stuff, including some old roller skates. And now, oddly, one of the people on American Idol just sang it tonight. Unless you’re of a certain vintage you probably have not heard of this song. Ha! I just remembered I had a poster of Melanie in my bedroom when I was growing up. I’m pretty sure I got it for free, but can’t remember from where. So, here you go.

Anyway, these are my words of wisdom for a rainy cold day in April.
I’m working on another painting. Not sure I’m done with it yet so won’t post it until I’m sure. Until then, readers!
