As promised (or warned, depending on how you look at it), I am going to give you the list of all the clothes I brought with me. Keep in mind I travelled with my purse, a backpack, and ONE suitcase. And I wasn’t dinged for my suitcase exceeding the weight limit on my flight back from PHX. It took a lot of thought to pack for this trip due to the many changes in climate that I went through. Remember, I experienced rain, snow, hot (Phoenix was 99oF one day) and cold (Truckee got down to 22oF) and everything in between! And, also remember – I had no idea when I was coming back, or where I was going to end up (to a certain extent) Continue reading “The Stats – Part 2 (Clothes Worn)”
The Stats Part 1 (Roads Covered)
Since I am recovering from the Inter-Am, jet lag, living out of my suitcase for 27 days, and getting used to the lovely humidity of the east coast, I didn’t do much today.
Did some laundry. Stocked up at the grocery store. And I did the statistics, routes, and clothing count for my trip. Continue reading “The Stats Part 1 (Roads Covered)”
27 Days Later
After 27 days of travelling, I finally got home last night. I’m pretty tired – the Hash Inter-Am was too much fun!
So, let’s get to it. I’m going to back track a little bit since now my photos are uploaded. Continue reading “27 Days Later”
Catching Up
On Sunday ‘the cousins’ had a potluck at my cousin Beanie’s house. Not all of the cousins were there, but we had a nice time anyway. Kenn got to meet them all in person. We enjoyed deviled eggs, seafood gumbo, roasted vegetables and for dessert a Blum’s Coffee Crunch cake. If you have never had that kind of cake before, you really should try it! It is the best cake ever made! I took a couple photos but my camera seems to be having some focusing issues (not the user either!), but I did get one of Kenn enjoying the sunset out by the eucalyptus trees: Continue reading “Catching Up”
A Lull in the Action
Well, it’s been a few days since my last post – I think in the last one I wrote, I had just checked into my first AirBnB, a home in San Mateo hosted by Daniela and David. Continue reading “A Lull in the Action”
Terracotta Warriors
A haiku. Terracotta Soldiers.
Brown, standing straight up.
Sunflowers, stems erect, tall.
Terracotta-like.
(follow up from yesterday. but you already knew that)
Another day in Cali
I woke up early this morning, still in Calistoga, and lazed around for a bit of the morning. I have watched the ‘new’ Megyn Kelly show now two days in a row. All I can say is: what happened to her?? She seems like she is trying to prove herself when she already has!! OK. Rant over. Continue reading “Another day in Cali”
On The Road Again
Hi kids –
I am now in Calistoga, CA after sadly leaving Boise (I LOVE IT THERE). Had a great time hanging with the guys. Surprised at how well we all got along after all these years. Here we are, photo complete with a ‘Lodi Ave’ sign that one of them ‘borrowed’ from the city of San Mateo. We all autographed it for posterity. And who looks the youngest 😉 ? A moment of peace and quiet
The last few days have been a flurry of activity. I arrived in Boise on Thursday, and the last of us arrived on Sunday evening. I am staying in Jay and Carolyn’s RV, and Tony and Frank each have their RV here, so we have quite the little community happening! Charlie and Steve (and their spouses) are staying at a nearby hotel. The first leg
I made it from PHL to DFW to BOI on Thursday. Flight from PHL to DFW was delayed because the toilets weren’t flushing. Needless to say, nobody complained about fixing the toilets! Luckily, though, we landed close to on time, which was good because I only had an hour between flights to catch the next one. And, oddly, there was one guy, sitting near me, who was also going to BOI. So, we walked to the gate together (also lucky – we landed at Gate C8 and only had to go to C16. Originally the second gate was C37, and at least we were in the same terminal!). They were boarding the second flight so we walked right up and got on – no muss no fuss!
