As I mentioned in my last post, I had an hour and a half drive to my hotel, which caused me to break one of my Road Trip Rules – no driving at night. I didn’t really have a choice since I did a sunset tour, but it wasn’t too bad. I also drove on a toll road – part of the PA turnpike – because I didn’t want to wander on backroads on top of driving at night. It sucked, but, I just stayed in the slow lane and took my time and it was fine. I got to the hotel a little after 9pm. Continue reading “Back from the Road Trip – Part 9 – Last Day of Driving”
Back from the Road Trip – Part 8 – Fallingwater
Got up early to leave Loveland OH and get to Fallingwater PA. Had to get there by 4pm for my 4:30pm Sunset Tour – 2 hours plus hors d’oeuvres on the terrace afterwards! If I took main highways and didn’t stop at all, it would be a 5 hour drive. I opted to take back roads for about half of the drive, so, it ended up taking me about 7 hours. But, I was mentally prepared, so no biggie. Continue reading “Back from the Road Trip – Part 8 – Fallingwater”
Back from the Road Trip – Part 7 – To Loveland OH via Georgetown OH
So, after leaving Claiborne Farms it was time to head towards Loveland. But first, one last shot from Claiborne:

Back from the Road Trip – Part 6 – Lexington KY to Loveland OH
The next morning I was looking through some of the pamphlets I picked up at the Lexington Visitor Center, and started looking through one called “Map to the Stars.” Although you may think ‘stars’ means Hollywood stars, these stars are actually stars of the Kentucky Derby, among others – that is, they are four-legged stars! Back from the Road Trip – Part 5 – Lexington KY
It was a pretty short drive from Berea to Lexington, so I got to Lexington fairly early in the day, after lunching in Berea (remember the fried catfish sandwich from the previous post) Continue reading “Back from the Road Trip – Part 5 – Lexington KY”
Back from the Road Trip – Part 4 – McMinnville TN to Berea KY
As promised, here are a few more photos from McMinnville – the first two are around the lake near Chip’s family home: Continue reading “Back from the Road Trip – Part 4 – McMinnville TN to Berea KY”
Back from the Road Trip – Part 3 – On the Way to McMinnville TN
I did some research on smaller roads to take from Asheville NC to just outside Sweetwater TN. I watched CBS This Morning a few weeks prior and came across a place I wanted to stop and see – The Lost Sea Adventure.
One of the roads I took was US Route 129. Here are some pretty photos from the route along the way: Continue reading “Back from the Road Trip – Part 3 – On the Way to McMinnville TN”
Back from the Road Trip – Part 2 – Asheville NC
So, next day I left Harrisonburg VA and headed to Asheville NC. Just outside Asheville I stopped for gas. Continue reading “Back from the Road Trip – Part 2 – Asheville NC”
Back from the Road Trip – Part 1 – Harrisonburg VA
I got home from the road trip yesterday. It was quite the epic journey, and I covered a lot of ground and did a lot of things – sometimes not even on purpose!
I’m going to break up the posts on the road trip by location, just to keep things straight. Continue reading “Back from the Road Trip – Part 1 – Harrisonburg VA”
Road Trip!
Wow – I guess it’s been a while since I posted! Sorry about that!
I’ve been getting some work done on my deck – specifically pretty much rebuilding the main part of it. It’s not quite done yet but it looks really good. I’ll post photos in a separate post.
But, today, I’m leaving on a roadtrip. I’m going to: Continue reading “Road Trip!”
