Flew out to Long Beach, CA a couple days ago. PHL to Phoenix to LB. The plane into LB was pretty small – a CR9 I think? In first class it was one seat on one side, and two on the other. And we debarked right to the pavement!
I hadn’t been to LB Airport before. Kind of had to hit the bathroom, figured I’d see it on the way to ‘Baggage Claim.’ Didn’t realize that Baggage Claim was outside of the airport, and outside! Oh well. Luckily, Jon and Tina were there waiting for me and it was a short drive to their place.
Here is my comfy bedroom:
We got to the house and sat on the porch with a glass of wine. Then it was time for bed.
Next morning, we got up, had some breakfast, and then Jon, Kenn and I went for a bike ride!

You probably can’t tell, but Kenn is looking at Ballast Point Brewery, across the water. Seal Beach is beyond.
After getting back from the bike ride, we did some grocery shopping in preparation for a big neighborhood and family shindig tomorrow. Then, time for wine on the porch!
The guy from Sublime who lives in the ‘hood walked by and said hello while we were sitting out there! As you can see, Kose (pronounced ‘Kosha’) the dog likes beer.
Later we had dinner at a Lebanese place called ‘Open Sesame.’
I liked the lights on the ceiling. And the food was good!
Then, post dinner drinks on a rooftop of a bar:
Nothing like a good martini (or two)!
A great first full day in Long Beach! And, unlike the East Coast which is ‘enjoying’ a sweltering heat wave, the weather here is pleasant and in the 70s!
This morning we drove by the Skinniest House in America:
This house is 860-square-feet, and just 10 feet wide. It’s a three-story, Tudor-style house with two bedrooms, one bath, and a deck on the third floor. It was also built on a dare. This website provides further info https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/the-skinniest-house-in-america
