A wonderful week visiting Jon and Tina came to an end, and it was time to head off to Palm Springs. In my last post I mentioned that I had missed picking up my rental car because I didn’t realize the office closed at noon.
So, I had reserved another one, and lo and behold, they had a car for me! I requested Sirius Radio since I knew I’d be driving in the middle of nowhere and wanted to have music. Got all my stuff loaded into the car, but, hey – the Sirius isn’t working! Checked in the office – the person tried to authorize it, but the app was saying the car wasn’t ‘Sirius compatible’ (even though it was). Ended up having to unload that car and get another car. Ended up taking off before verifying the Sirius worked. Luckily it did! I ended up with a Hyundai Tucson SUV.

I got out of the car to take this selfie. And then I got back in the car and realized I was stuck! I panicked but managed to get myself out. Whew!! I didn’t drive offroad again, but just pulled off alongside the road to take a few more photos. I thought having an SUV I would have been all right, but I guess not! I saw more sculptures than I took photos of – sorry – didn’t want to get stuck again!
Then on to the Salton Sea
I pulled up to this spot which is where the Salton Sea Yacht Club used to be. There was an Imperial County Sheriff’s vehicle parked out there too. I stopped to take a few photos, and then started programming my GPS to get me to Palm Springs. Next thing I know the Sheriff is driving over to see what I was up to. No problem though! He was cool.
Made it to Palm Springs in no time. Drove alongside the Salton Sea for a while – yes, it was a bit stinky. And passed tons of palm tree farms!
Made it to the Kimpton Rowan Hotel. I love Kimptons!
