A short time to recuperate

I got home the evening of Sept 5.  Though there was quite a bit of rain while I was driving, the weather during the trip was beautiful otherwise.  Awesome!

Since not much exciting has been happening, I thought I would take a break from the blog too.  Don’t want to bore anybody!

I caught up on ‘Twin Peaks: The Return’ and have been doing some cleaning out of junk in the house while I’m in-between trips.

One highlight of the week was the Kennett Square Mushroom Festival Parade.  The festival is over this weekend, and the parade on Friday night kicked it off.  For those of you who are not local to this area, Kennett Square is the Mushroom Capital of at least the US.  On New Year’s Eve a giant lighted mushroom is dropped at midnight in the middle of town.  Kennett Square is also known as one of the Top 10 ‘Cool Towns’ in the USA.

We managed to get a front-row table in the street, with a perfect view of the parade.  So, with drinks and food to keep us happy, we were good to go.  We shared our table with some nice people and made some new friends.

Here are a few shots from the parade.

 Big Jeep and …

His baby brother (we all said we want one of these!)
 Great seats!

Recognized the song but don’t know the name
 One mushroom mobile
 And another

So, much fun was had this particular Friday night.  We strolled around town, heard some live music, checked out some new stores and had a fine evening.

This morning I got up to go for a run and had a surprise in my yard, almost next to my car:

Yes, those are eggs.  By the size, they appear to be chicken eggs.  I’m not sure who of my neighbors has chickens (I have yet to hear a rooster crow around here).  And yes, they are different colors.  One was eaten.

I wouldn’t be honest if I didn’t say I was a little creeped out.  I live in the woods.  I get that there are critters out there.  But do you have to eat your friggin’ eggs right near my house???

I wasn’t sure what to do, so, the eggs sat there for a good part of the day today.  I then decided I didn’t want to invite whatever critter back for dinner ‘at’ the house so I picked up the eggs (with gardening gloves on) and relocated them farther away from the house.  I’ll keep an eye out and report back on their fate.  I suspect raccoon(s) but I still don’t understand why they would carry them so far from where they got them (which is still a mystery).

Ah, well.  Another day in the neighborhood.

Catch you next time!
