A time for found things

The last few days have been interesting, and I only picked up on the theme today – it has been a week of finding things

I ended my last post talking about finding what appeared to be chicken eggs in my yard.  Over the weekend, I managed to solve the mystery.  By happenstance on Saturday I reached out to our band’s bass player to see if he wanted to grab a drink together.  He agreed and we met later in the day.  We were chit-chatting about this and that, and I mentioned that I found these eggs in the yard.  There was a pause, he laughed, and he said “That was me!”  I said, “That was NOT you!”  Well, after a few back and forths of that, he explained what happened.  He had come by last week to pick up his amp, when I wasn’t home.  Earlier that day, he was helping a friend with something, and the friend gave him some eggs.  On the way to my house he did a ‘short stop’ and some of the eggs flew around his car and broke.  When he got to my house he took them out of his car to clean it up a bit.  And then he forgot to put them back.  I guess it took me a couple days to notice them.  Mystery solved!  I am very glad it wasn’t raccoons!

Also on Saturday, I found a sock that had been missing for at least a year.  Yay!

And also on Saturday, I found a cassette tape that I have been searching for, around the house, off and on, for years.  I bought the tape in London in 1980 and have been unable to find that exact recording anywhere online.  I am lucky to have a friend who can transfer the tape to CD – he did two for me already – one a tape by Sylvester (Do You Wanna Funk With Me?) that I also bought in London in 1980, and the other the soundtrack to the movie Breakin’ that I bought in Wilmington, NC probably in 1984.  You can make fun of me all you want – this is some seriously good music! 😉

Anyway, the most recent found tape is by Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five.  I love the song “White Lines” and the version on the tape is awesome!

I can’t tell you how excited I am to have found this tape.    And I wasn’t even looking for it – I was just cleaning out some junk in my spare room!

I hope the theme of ‘found things’ continues.  It’s such a nice feeling.

Talk to you later
