I decided to take a walk into Hilotown yesterday 10/27. It’s a little less than 2 miles to the Hilo Farmer’s Market.
Found a cute little cafe called Nectar Cafe http://www.nectorcafe.com/ at the back of a store called Wild HeArtist http://www.wildheartisthawaii.com. Had a Green Goddess smoothie – very delish and I got a magical spoon to eat it with! The menu of elixirs sounds pretty interesting – I may go back and get a Ceremonial Cacao. Feels like that’s what I should do.
I didn’t take a ton of photos today. I stopped in a little local store and got a beach towel, and went into a local organic store and got some sunblock and face cream.
I walked to and from along Kamehameha Ave. If you look hard you can see my hotel across the bay.

And just to give you an idea where the clock was compared to where I’m staying, Hula Hula’s is a bar/restaurant at my hotel:
I kept walking to the eastern end of Banyan Drive and turned there to go back to the hotel. I came across a little beach park:
Then later saw this guy in the hotel:
This morning I saw a huge ship go by, right around sunrise:
Later in the morning I got out of the shower, was walking around my room naked, heard a noise and realized there were guys out trimming the palm trees! Good thing I had my curtains closed on one side, and I saw the other guy before he saw me! Yikes!
Anyway, I’m going on a tour today – will include some of Hilotown, and Volcanoes National Park. Of course I will update the blog tomorrow. Also, as I type right now, settlement on the sale of my house should be occurring. It’s kind of a bittersweet thing – I’m very ready to sell / not own the house, but I was there for 33 years! I feel like somebody else will be “touching my things” which aren’t mine anymore. But, I’m glad it’s staying in the family.
