Wednesday 11/24, the day before Thanksgiving, I was really itching to get out of Honomu. I had 2 prescriptions to pick up at the KTA Supermarket (after a previous non-successful attempt at filling them) and that was on the way to Volcano so I figured – what the heck? And I thought it would be fun to drive past Volcano and see where I ended up, so I just kept driving until it felt like time to turn around, which ended up being Pahala (in retrospect I wish I had gone a little further, but, I still have time to do so)
So, I got to Pahala and turns out there is a Coffee Farm/Mill there so I randomly decided to go check it out.
I tried the Peaberry Washed Medium. It was just okay. But I did find a small bottle of Macadamia Nut Oil with Garlic so I got that.
Not much at this stop. I missed the tour by an hour and the town is really really small. Although, it was cool I saw a monk in his robes walking his dog around town.
I think in a previous post I may have mentioned I tried to go to the Volcano Art Gallery but it was closed. Turns out that was the Office Gallery. The actual Volcano Art Gallery is inside the National Park, which I have a lifetime pass for, and which I remembered this day. So I finally got to check it out!
I came out of the gallery and noticed a pathway and decided to follow it. Turns out it went into the Sulphur Banks so I decided to follow it. Unfortunately I had my flip flops on. I should’ve gone back to the car and changed shoes and I would’ve walked for longer. But, it was getting late in the afternoon and I also forgot a jacket so probably just as well. I still have time to go back if I decide to.
