I’ve been waking up really early – guess I’m still kind of on Central or Mountain or some other time zone than Pacific. So, got up, took my time getting ready and left the Kimpton around 9am.
Jumped onto 101 North and, because I did the drive before, I planned to drive through Spreckles (a VERY small unexpected town) and take Route 68 over to Route 1 to Carmel.
The car GPS, however, had different ideas. It wanted me to take Rt 46 over to Cambria and up Rt 1 through Big Sur. I’ve kind of had my fill of driving on Rt 1 – it’s so windy (as in winding road, not blowing wind) – although, I’ve always driven South, which is the side where the downward cliff is. Anyway, I really didn’t want to go that way, and the GPS kept telling me to take the next exit to do a U-turn and go back, for about 5 miles! Finally she changed to the route I wanted.
Took the exit to Carmel but got myself a little turned around. The streets are very narrow in parts, and of course I ended up on one of them. But, I finally figured out where I was and got to the house. Got in with no problem! Yay!

I was so tired after I arrived yesterday that I just made some pre-packaged food that I had brought on the trip, and I went to bed around 7pm!
This morning I walked uphill to the little market that’s about 3-4 blocks away. Bought more stuff than I thought I would – this bag was heavy!! Luckily it was downhill carrying it back. Got a good workout though!

I bought the Sunday San Francisco Chronicle. I wasn’t even sure if they still publish it, but they do. Trying to relax today and not jump into a bunch of stuff. I need to just chill for a bit and acclimate myself to here. Of course, I already am loving it!
So, I’m going to go for a little walk. The object here is for me to see how it feels to ‘live’ here. The last two times I was here I didn’t want to leave. And if I like it as much as I think I do / will, then I need to figure out if I can afford to live here. That is the big question. We shall see!
