I’ve had an unopened tin of Rosebud Salve for a while now (lip balm). It travelled with me out to CA and went through several temperature changes. So, it apparently melted a little bit. So, I could not get it OPEN!!!!
I fought with it several times and every time I got close I would drop it and then it would jam closed again. Argh!
Finally, this morning, I decided to do a Google search to see how to open it. Surprisingly there were a lot of posts about this very subject! I don’t do Reddit much but there was a whole thread about it!
Anyway, somebody said to put a rubberband around the top, and around the bottom, and then twist the top as you pull it up. Sure enough, it worked! YAY!!!
