I survived …

OK, another stellar weather day in Bend OR.  Cool, low humidity, another mighty fine cup o’ joe and breakfast being cooked in the kitchen as I sit here.

We all went mountain biking yesterday.  We rode on the Mrzak (“Mirazic”) trail, and thru the Two Bulls trail (see below).  There was a large fire there and you can still see the aftermath a bit.  Regrowth has started though.  Anyway, it was three really good riders … and me.  I have been mountain biking maybe twice in my life.  We were on an ‘easy’ trail.  Ha!  Easy for them, not as easy for me.  I totally psyched myself out, riding with white knuckles and maybe a little hyperventilating (keep me mind we’re at about 5000 ft so maybe it was just the elevation), and a little bit of walking here and there.  After a while we got to the point where I said “go ahead, I’ll start back on my own – take your time” – so they rode a little further on.  I was kind of mad at myself for being such a wuss so I told myself I would ride the entire way back – no walking.  Which I did!  Once I was on my own and could concentrate without an audience, I actually enjoyed the ride.  One small victory!

The reward for the ride was a stop at the Deschutes brewing company.  You get four tastings for free.  I had the Fresh Squeezed IPA, Passion Fruit IPA, Pinedrops IPA, and Inversion IPA.  (Note a trend here?)

Later we went for a walk along the Deschutes River and then relaxed around the house.  Admittedly I was pretty beat.  But, as some of you know ” No naps for retirees!”  So there was no nap.

We had a nice dinner and played a game called “Epidemic” before retiring after another nice day (note, the rules of this game are pretty complicated – we did not save the world our first try out)

Today we’ll be hiking and doing some other sightseeing.  Talk to you soon!
