I just finished the second project in my art class – painting a green apple. Take a look at the photos:
Here’s the set up:

First thing was to wash the canvas with a neutral color (raw umber was the color I chose – you rub it on the canvas with a sponge to ‘take the white down’)
Then I drew in the basic shapes with charcoal. For the painting part, we start by doing the shadows first! Who knew. The above took me 2 hours.

This is at the end of the second session. Another 2 hours down.
And, after ANOTHER 2 more hours, the finished product:

I learned a lot with this! And pretty happy with how it turned out. The next project will be doing a pencil drawing of an origami bird.
Before I sign off, I just heard something on TV – J.K. Simmons (the actor who won an Oscar for the movie Whiplash) is the voice of the yellow M&M! In the commercial that’s on TV now, for Christmas, he’s the one that says “Uh … Santa?” Who knew! He’s been doing the voice for 22 years!
