We had a two week break from class for the holidays, so it’s been a while since I worked on my latest project. It is a pencil drawing of an origami bird. This project took me about 5 hours and 40 minutes, so two full classes, plus and hour 40 of today’s class.
Here goes! First, here’s the set up:

And now a close up of the drawing above – two hours in:

Now here it is after the second class – 4 hours in. Getting there!

Now here’s the final, again after 5 hours and 40 minutes. I actually kind of like this drawing so maybe I’ll frame it!

I actually smudged the right side with my hand while I was shading stuff in the middle, dang it! I did try to fix it, kinda did okay at that I think. I had a clean white spot in the middle, and then I noticed it wasn’t clean any more. Then I looked at the side of my hand and it was covered in graphite. After that I put a piece of paper there so my hand would rest on the blank paper instead of straight on the drawing. Lesson learned!
Next class I’ll be learning about color mixing. That project will be contained all in one class!
For the past couple weeks I’ve been doing some travel planning – I’ll post that in a separate post. Until then!
