I started this one back in April, and then I got ‘stuck’ and put it aside. Finally finished it up a couple weeks ago!
Here’s the first day’s progress. For some reason I wanted to paint a flower and I found this photo online. I didn’t realize how hard it was going to be!

Unfortunately, I didn’t take too many photos – just didn’t think of it back then. But here’s another one:

Here’s the next photo. It’s getting there but this is about where I started getting frustrated and put it aside.

I ended up taking the painting to the art class I’m taking and asking the teacher what she thought it needed. First was adding lighter yellow on the tops of the petals to give them more dimension. Second was making the center of the flower darker. Third was doing a yellow “wash” over the green leaves, to tie the leaf color to the flower color. Fourth was to make the background darker and remove one leaf that had been at the bottom of the painting – although the photo had a leaf there, it didn’t really make sense to the composition of this painting.
I auctioned this one off for charity also!
