Early on I had planned to stay in Amarillo TX for Day Ten but then I decided to push forward and get myself into NM. So glad I did! I found a great little hotel called Motel Safari, right on Rt 66 in town. But here are some photos from the drive. It was a long day of driving, relatively speaking, and there was a time change so I made a lot of little stops to help break it up. Boy was it windy!
I came across a little Indian restaurant at a run-down gas station, I think it was in OK but may have been in TX. Got the samosa bowl. It was really good!
A rest stop in TX. Met a couple from the Finger Lakes region of NY that are headed to Las Vegas. Took their photo.
Finally made it to New Mexico!
I love this place! I booked the Rockabilly Suite.
Went for a short walk to get some food at Del’s Restaurant. Ordered onion rings – they were around $2.50. HUGE portion! I also got chips and queso which were also big portions so I have some leftovers to take with me.
I need to check out soon so this is all for now. Headed to Albuquerque. Will probably do a little sightseeing in town so maybe I’ll add more later.
