Wow – it’s been a while since I updated the blog! I’ve been on the move. Needed to leave Solbakken on July 30 and have been in a bunch of different places since then.
But let me back up just a little. Carmel has a Bach Festival for 2 weeks in July. So, I went to see a Trio of Sonatas with harpsichord, oboe, flute, and cello. It was great! They got a standing ovation! A little bit later I went out to dinner and the oboist flautist and cellist were at the restaurant so I went up to them, told them I was at the concert and told them how great is was. They were happy to hear that!
Then, the next week I went to a Toe Reading workshop. Boy was it interesting! The woman who does them is also a psychologist and hypnotherapist. I may go for a reading when I get back to Carmel. You can gain lots of insights about yourself by reading your toes / feet. Now I look at people’s feet whenever I see somebody wearing open toed shoes LOL!
Lise and Tim, my hosts at Solbakken, needed to come to Carmel to prepare my place for the next guests. Because I had helped with some things they wanted to take me out to dinner. We had a grand time – ate at Pangaea, where I hadn’t gone yet. It was really good. And now I have 2 new friends!
And then I left Carmel. Went to the Bay Area for 5 nights – 2 in San Mateo and 3 in El Granada. The host at the El Granada AirBnB was really nice, and had friends from Spain staying in her house when I was there. She invited me over for paella dinner made by her spanish friend. Was really cool to watch, and delicious to eat! There’s a special pan you cook it in, and surprisingly, orange powdery food coloring is what’s used to make the rice yellow. Who knew?

Had a nice time with them, and then checked out the next day and made my way to Freshwater CA to visit my friends Jay and Carolyn at their daughter’s house – it was cooler weather-wise for them to stay there and Jenny, the daughter (and fam) have 2 AirBnBs there and one was needing to be cleaned and turned around for the next guests. It’s a nice little farmette – chickens, goats, dog, cat.
Anyway, I’ve been at Jay and Carolyn’s place in Jacksonville OR for about 6 days now. We’ve done some sightseeing – I’ll put that in the next few posts.
