A Nice Getaway and MCT Oil

It’s been a “minute” since my last post.  I’ve been a bit busy trying to sell my house in Delaware (and settlement was July 26!  All done!).  It was pretty stressful trying to get all the paperwork together and getting all the stuff done to get the house ready for the new homeowners, but we got it all done. Whew!

Anyway, after settlement was complete I needed an easy get-a-way to decompress.  I was thinking about going to one of my favorite resorts, Miraval, in Tucson, but it was taking too much brainpower to plan, so I came up with a different idea.  I stayed at the Bernardus Lodge in Carmel Valley.  About 10 miles away.  Never set foot there before but heard a lot of good things.  It was GREAT and was exactly what I needed.  I spent 2 weekday nights there.  Did the hot tub, pool, got a guided hike in Garland Ranch Park, took off my shoes and grounded myself on the bocci ball lawn, relaxed, and got an amazing Tarot reading.  I could feel myself immediately calm down as soon as I walked into my room.  Food was great too!

But on to the next topic – MCT Oil.  I have been adding it to my smoothies, pretty small amount.  And, I have started seeing a naturopath – I have some stuff I want to try to remedy naturally.  She told me I should add MCT or coconut oil, or grass-fed cow butter, to my coffee in the morning.

So, the first morning I added the MCT oil.  Then walked down to the Farmer’s Market.  Got veggies and stuff and decided to get a lox bagel from one of the vendors.  Got home, ate some of it – it was soooo good!

But then, I got the runs.  I thought to myself, “Darn!  There must have been something in the bagel.”  Things settled down fairly quickly though, so that was good.

The next morning I added MCT oil to my coffee again.  I figured more is better, so added maybe a little over a tablespoon.  Well, that was a mistake!  It turns out my gastro issue wasn’t the bagel but the MCT oil!  And I had to cancel 2 activities because I couldn’t leave the house because … you know!

I’m okay now but that was not pleasant at all!  Totally cleaned me out! Now I’ve been adding butter to my coffee instead of the oil.  I may try it again sometime, but in a much smaller dose.

Don’t make the same mistake as me!
