So, first up, we landed in Trondheim at 630am. We didn’t immediately debark from the ship, but got up fairly early, had a quick breakfast, and then headed out. By then, we had about two hours. And our main goal was getting to the Nidaros Cathedral. Here are some shots on the way there:
And here is the Nidaros Cathedral. Note that Trondheim was originally named Nidaros. It was Norway’s first capital city and is situated at the mouth of the River Nid. Apparently, after fierce conflict, a majority of the population rejected Nidaros in favor of Trondheim for the city name.
After reaching our goal, it was time to head back towards the ship, but we took a different way back so we’d see more.

Back on the boat, our chef did a demonstration on how to fillet a fish. The fish in this case was fresh salmon! He filleted 3 salmon, and he made it look very easy. First tip: use a very sharp knife! After the demo we got to sample a piece of the very fresh raw salmon with some homemade teriyaki marinade. Yummy!
Then, it was time to enjoy more scenes from the boat.
And then we landed in Kristiansund. From Kristiansund we departed on our next excursion, to the Bergtatt Marble Mine, along the Atlantic Road.
