Still at Miraval. Got up real early this morning and went for a 2 hour hike at 6am. Oddly it isn’t all that hot here, right now anyway. I didn’t really understand what ‘monsoon’ season meant, but it rained a lot today and got quite a bit humid. Now it’s fairly pleasant out.
Anyway, here are some photos from the hike this morning:
This photo, if you look in the distance, shows the ‘obstacle course.’ Stuff like hang in a harness 35 ft off the ground, or climb the 40 foot ladder, or, walk across a telephone pole way high up, or, do a tightrope walk. No thanks! I did a zipline once and my legs were like jelly. I don’t think I need to revisit that!

This saguero is really really old

Kenn hiking. So, I pulled Kenn out of my pack and said he was kind of like my “Flat Stanley” and one of the women said “oh, that’s so sweet.” If only she knew …

And here are some more photos – after I got back from the hike I took a swim in the salt water pool, then sat in the salt water hot tub, then got dressed and went for a walk around the premises.

I know it’s a little hard to see here, and I didn’t really want to get too close, but there are about 5 javelinas in the photo. They’re like wild pigs, roughly 40 lbs each. I came back from my hike this morning and something had been digging around my patio and left foot prints. I think these guys were the culprits. When I came back to my room later, their footprints were all around my door!

And the lovely chickens who supply our eggs

Another nice sky photo. I’m standing by ‘The Retreats’ which are more like houses than hotel rooms. They have kitchens etc. Here is a shot of some of them. They look pretty sweet!

So, today I took a balance class (harder than I thought it would be. I have work to do), had a spiritual reading (heard some stuff that I was kind of anticipating, but also heard some stuff I hadn’t expected, including “why am I seeing a piano?” – whoa!), and then took a restorative yoga class. There were about 20 Tibetan ‘singing’ bowls in the room. One of them resonated so much it felt like it really penetrated my brain.
At dinner I sat at the community table again. Always good to get a free glass of wine! So – update – last night I was the only one there. But I still got my free glass. Today, I shared the table with one person – Shay. She’s a lawyer in Houston. We had a great convo!
And now, it’s time to wind down. I am not going to get up for a 6am hike tomorrow, but plan to hike on my own at a little more reasonable time.
I have 3 different appointments tomorrow and may try to fit some other stuff in.
Until then dear readers!
