Yeah, welp, it’s been quite a while since I posted here. Sorry about that! I guess I really didn’t feel like I had much to post about. I have done some paintings in between and perhaps I will post about them later, but, I do want to document my road trip before I forget more things.
So, in a previous post or two I’ve mentioned River, with whom I had a Tarot reading back in October. As it turns out, he became my Spiritual Coach and we’ve been working together on that since October, meeting once a week via Zoom. A few months ago we talked about meeting up in person, and in the last month or so we decided that the latter part of May would be a good time to do so. My 2 weeks after being fully vaccinated was up on May 3 so the timing felt right.
River and his roommate live in Cedar MI. This was also a great opportunity because I had never been to Michigan before!
Everything was still in pandemic mode (wear masks everywhere, limited capacity, etc) when I started the trip. I decided to rent an SUV for the trip since I was headed fairly far north and had no idea if it might snow or something. I ended up with a GMC Acadia, which, after I got used to the idea of driving such a big vehicle, ended up being great! It had wi-fi (via its own ATT Hotspot) and the radio system would read my texts to me if I got any. Pretty nice!
Driving directly to Cedar would take at least 14 hours so I decided to split the drive up into 3 days. I also found some museums and sites to see on the way to break up the driving.
First stop was Warren OH. I picked Warren just because it was just far enough for the first day (around 5 1/2 hours without stopping) and it was on the way I wanted to go. I decided to stay at a Holiday Inn Express based on reviews I read, plus it had a “kitchenette.” I arrived and the check in lady was very very nice. There were only about 7-8 cars in the parking lot so the hotel was pretty empty. Here’s some photos:
Kenn was happy to get out and about!

And this is Lina the Faery:

View from my room (overlooking a big mall). As you can see, not too many cars in the parking lot. And FYI it was May 13, 2021.
I was excited to find a place to get some Indian takeout – yummy! And there’s the Acadia!

So, first day of the road trip worked out well! I went back to the hotel room and had dinner and relaxed. I’ll write about Day 2 in the next post – headed from Warren OH to East Lansing MI, with a short trip through Indiana so I could cross that state off my list too! Talk soon!
