Carmel-by-the-Sea, Part 1

I’m a little behind – arrived in Carmel last Sunday and now it’s Friday 12/17.  Leaving here for San Mateo for 2 nights, then El Granada for about 2 weeks.  And then?  I don’t know yet!

I was lucky – it was about a 4 1/2 hour drive from Santa Barbara to Carmel and a storm was coming.  I arrived in Carmel just as it started sprinkling.  And then it just downpoured for hours!  I got to Carmel around 4pm so didn’t do much that first day.

Here are some photos – first up is my room at the Hotel Carmel.  Very nice!

The lobby has a tape deck and a bunch of tapes

I got something to eat at Brophy’s which is connected to the motel.  Here’s one of the walls:

Next day I went for a walk around town:

This Ganesha was in an art gallery I went in (there are tons of them here)

Beach parking on Ocean Ave

Yes, I know there are a ton of beach photos, but it’s so pretty here!  Next day I took a walking tour that was pretty interesting.  I’ll put that in a separate post.  Til next time!
