Weird Day

So, there was an eclipse on October 25, but it wasn’t viewable from the US.  But, I had a bit of a weird day that day.

I was walking around Carmel and decided to take myself out for lunch.  I was going to go to a place I went to before but decided to try somewhere new.  I asked for a table outside which was in a little alley on the side of the restaurant.

The waitress brought me some water and the menu.  15 or 20 minutes later she came out saying “I am soo sorry!!  I got sidetracked and forgot you were out here!”

I told her it was okay and that I was ready to order.  I ordered avocado toast with smoked salmon, a half dozen raw oysters and a glass of wine.

The oysters came out first and they were delicious, although they weren’t separated from the shell so I had to do that.

Then she brought out the avocado toast.  Only, it wasn’t avocado toast!  It was a mushroom omelet with smoked salmon on the top!  She had disappeared by the time I figured out it was the wrong order.

I figured I’d eat it anyway.  10 minutes later she came out and asked how everything was.  I said it’s very good but it’s not what I ordered – I asked for avocado toast.  She apologized again.  I said you must be having quite the day! And she said she was the only server working and a bunch of people had come in after I did.

She came back out another 10 minutes or so later and offered one piece of avocado toast (it usually comes with two) so I could try it, but I was getting full so I declined and said I’d come back  another time.

Anyway, for her error she took half off of the omelet, so that was good.

Earlier in the week I had asked my friend Tesia if she could give me a ride to Monterey on her way home from work so I could go to the farmer’s market there.  I planned to take an Uber back.  She said sure so I walked over to the pilates studio at our appointed time.  On our way over I said, I may call you if I can’t find an Uber and she said no problem.

Went to the farmer’s market, got some flowers and some really good clam chowder and requested my Uber.  The app said the driver was 5 minutes away, then 4, then 3 … and then it said my ride started and I never saw the car!  I cancelled the ride but I was charged for the amount of time used so far.

I was leery about requesting another Uber at that point so I called Tesia and she thankfully gave me a ride home.  Got onto the Uber website and got a refund.  But that was really weird.   I think I didn’t have the best signal so maybe some wires got crossed.  I’ll try Uber another time though.

Weird!
