Hay House has been showing up in my FB feed a lot lately, and recently they announced that everything in their store was 50% off, so I decided to order some stuff.
I was excited to see that the items had shipped and was looking forward to receiving my package!
I got a notification from UPS that my package was delivered! I ran to the door and opened it … nothing there!
I looked up the tracking number, clicked on the More Details button and it said it had been delivered to “LIBRARY.” I called the library and although they had received packages that day, none were addressed to me.
I called UPS and told the person what happened (and heard roosters crowing in her background!) and she said she would notify the local hub and the driver would call me. Never got the call.
The next day, I was talking to my friend Michael about what happened, when I remembered that there is a second library in town. I called and mentioned what happened and was referred to Renee, who had received the package and said she wanted to do a nice favor so she left the package at my door. The problem was, it wasn’t at MY door! I barraged her with a bunch of questions – “did you go up any stairs?” “what color was the door?” etc
I live in an apartment building on a corner – the SW one to be exact. There are 2 other buildings at this intersection that have apartments. Went to one, and the doors didn’t fit her description. Went to the other one (NE corner), found the same apartment number, and voila, there was my box! It was open but everything was inside.
I was wondering why it was open, and then I looked closer at the label on the box. It was very difficult to read the address. I think Renee opened the box so she could see the address on the invoice (smart) and I think the UPS guy left it at the library on purpose, probably guessing that I would call about the package, and knowing it was a safe place to leave it (also smart).
I called Renee to let her know I found the package.
I never did get a call from the UPS hub, but after my detective work it doesn’t matter now. Funny story though, dontcha think?
