As I said previously, on the Monday I was in LA I went to a Club Pilates class and to the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA).
Here are some photos. I could see MOCA from my hotel room, and it was nice that I could walk out the back entrance to the hotel and there I was right in the plaza where MOCA is located!
These were some big plexiglass boxes.
MOCA is free. You do have to stop by the Box Office to ‘buy’ a ticket – I think that’s so they can track how many people go in and where they’re from.
The photo below is of an exhibit that I didn’t go into. Obviously I could see who went in there but I’m not sure they could see us outside. I screwed up this photo – the guy was standing in front of the window for a long time trying to take a photo, and that was what I wanted to capture but I took too long to get my phone out. Oh well …
Mark Rothko. His paintings are all very big. I have a friend who really likes his stuff. For me, it’s just okay.

This one had an accompanying video, of a performance artist taking an ax to an old piano. You can see the ax embedded below. Poor piano!
This one is a quilt!! Can you believe it?? Look at the depth!
I love this – I would love to do something like this to my bedroom walls!
After MOCA I went for a walk – here is the Walt Disney Concert Hall (the silver building)
And, as promised in a previous post, here is the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao. Same architect!
After MOCA I went to a Pilates class (it was decent) and for a walk. I actually walked a lot because I walked to the Pilates place to find it and sign up. Then I walked back to the hotel. Then I walked back for class. Then I walked back to the hotel. Then I realized I forgot my water bottle! Then I walked back to the Pilates place. Then back to the hotel. According to Google Maps it is 0.6 miles each way. Plus I walked around other than that. And, it was hilly!
Here’s a sidewalk art photo I saw on one of my back and forth walks. It was random because there were no trees nearby, and the shadow is actually from sun reflecting off a big glass building. Perhaps it looked better in person …
