As I said in a previous post, my friend Dawn came up to stay with me for 2 nights at the VRBO. On Wednesday after she finished up a work call, she took me around the area. First stop was ‘Fish Town’ in Leland MI.
It looks far on a map, but it was in actuality maybe 10-15 minutes away. I wish I had realized how close everything was earlier in the week, but, it all worked out fine anyway. Cedar is in the lower left corner and then Leland is about half way up on the left.
We stopped for lunch at one of Dawn’s favorite spots.

I didn’t have a ‘Chubby Mary’ but, they make bloody mary’s and then put a whole, smoked Chub in it!
After our delish lunch, it was time to move along. Our next stop was the Lighthouse at Leelanau State Park. The map above isn’t big enough to show it, but it is the farthest point north on the peninsula.

Now we headed up the other peninsula, and then stopped to do a wine tasting. So we took M22 (this is a beautiful roadway with lots of beautiful houses and scenery – just like you see oval bumper stickers with things like ‘OBX’ for the Outer Banks or Mile 0 for The Florida Keys, there are oval stickers there with M22 on them). We drove all the way up to the top and then stopped for the wine on the way back down.

Then back to Traverse City for dinner. The restaurant was in the basement of a building that used to be The Traverse City State Hospital https://www.thevillagetc.com/history/.

Unfortunately I didn’t take any more photos on this day. But the next day, I went to Glen Arbor and took a bunch of photos. That’ll be in the next post. Stay tuned!
