I made it to the Bay Area without any hassles, and checked in for 2 nights at the Hilton Garden Inn in Centrepoint in San Mateo. I’ve stayed there before and it’s close to the house I grew up in and I wanted to check out the area again.
I decided to walk to a nearby park that I was familiar with, and then had the idea to walk the loop past the parental home to take a close look at how it is now, and to one of my favorite restaurants, The Fish Market, for lunch. This is the view from my table. I had a cup of clam chowder and cheesy garlic bread and “cheersed” my dad with a glass of water. We used to always go to Fish Market for the chowder and cheesy bread, although, we also went there for martinis and happy hour. It felt too early to have a martini though 🙂

The next day cousin Ted asked me if I wanted to go with him to see my cousin Becky (his sister) and then ride around SF and check things out. We went on the day I checked out of the Hilton so I drove straight to his house with plans to check into the first AirBnB later in the day.
I saw Becky, we had lunch at a great Pho place, and he drove me around SF. We drove past the apartments we had grown up in, and took in some sights around Chinatown. He’s a great tour guide and knows a lot about San Fran so it was great to ride around and gawk at everything! I didn’t take any photos though.
I got to my AirBnB in the late afternoon, caught up with cousin Beanie (who lives across the street from where I stayed) and got myself settled in.
Next day Beanie and I went for a hike on the trails around the area. Normally I would have broken this into a separate post but I got my days mixed up and it would be a hassle to try to fix it – oh well! Here are some nice photos from the hike:

Later we walked down along the beach

Okay, not too many words in this post. I should’ve done it sooner! Playing catch up today since I have time and this blog is more than a week behind! More coming!
