Just going to add a few photos from my last day in Hilo before heading to the retreat. The sushi was from the Hilo Bay Cafe – and it was really good! Continue reading “Last Day in Hilo … for now”
A great massage and a visit to the Kona side
Yesterday, 11/2, I had a massage, and boy it was one of the best massages I’ve ever had. Thinking I’ll get at least one more there before I leave the island – it was with Maya of Body Harmony, right in Hilotown. If you’re ever here – go check her out! Catching Up
It’s been a few days since I updated the blog, partly because some days I didn’t really do anything interesting, and partly because I wasn’t in the mood, and partly because I was out and about. Continue reading “Catching Up”
Big Changes and a Volcano
Yesterday, 10/28, was a big day. On 10/27 I found out that the settlement for the sale of my house would be on 10/28. I had already signed up for a tour: https://kapohokine.com/tours/evening-volcano-explorer-hilo/ on 10/28 – but, I had already given my lawyer Power of Attorney so I didn’t really need to do anything. I let them know that I’d be on a tour for most of the day and that I’d have my phone with me.
Big Changes
I posted this on FB and thought I should add it here too:
Road Trip Spring 2021 – Part 12 – NFL Football Hall of Fame and Andy Warhol Museum
All right, I’ve gotten lazy. This will be a short post about the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton OH: https://www.profootballhof.com/ and the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittburgh PA: https://www.warhol.org/
They are both worth going to! I’m not going to add a bunch of photos but here’s a few: Continue reading “Road Trip Spring 2021 – Part 12 – NFL Football Hall of Fame and Andy Warhol Museum”
Road Trip Spring 2021 – Part 11 – Cleveland and the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame: Part 2
As promised here are a ton more photos from the RnR Hall of Fame! Continue reading “Road Trip Spring 2021 – Part 11 – Cleveland and the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame: Part 2”
Road Trip Spring 2021 – Part 10 – Cleveland and the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame: Part 1
After leaving Cedar, I headed to Oxford MI to spend a night with Dawn. Then, the next morning I headed to Cleveland. I was staying at a Kimpton Hotel – the Kimpton Schofield. Sadly, although it wasn’t exactly dumpy, it was the dumpiest Kimpton I’ve ever stayed at. The rooms were kinda beat. But the lobby was nice and the wine hour was nice. Not too many people staying there – things were still in the midst of slowing opening back up – so that was nice. Road Trip Spring 2021 – Part 9 – Sleeping Bear Dunes
The day for scaling Sleeping Bear Dunes arrived! And they weren’t very far away – just past Glen Arbor.
Here’s a link: https://www.nps.gov/slbe/index.htm
I thought it was going to be a fairly short walk to get to the water – just steep dunes – but, I was mistaken. Steep dunes AND it was about 1 & 3/4 miles each way! And it was hot! Continue reading “Road Trip Spring 2021 – Part 9 – Sleeping Bear Dunes”
Road Trip Spring 2021 – Part 8 – Swanson Preserve and more Traverse City
The next morning I had some time to myself and found a nearby preserve to go for a little hike/walk. As it turns out, there are a lot of them, and I probably could have gone to a different one every day if I had realized how close everything was. Oh well! Maybe I’ll go back there someday … Continue reading “Road Trip Spring 2021 – Part 8 – Swanson Preserve and more Traverse City”
Road Trip Spring 2021 – Part 7 – Glen Arbor
I had some time to myself so decided to do a little exploring. After my day with Dawn and realizing that things really weren’t very far from where I was staying, I decided to go to Glen Arbor and check things out. The weather turned hot, and I brought mainly cooler weather clothing for the trip so I was hoping I might find a little sundress or something that would be cooler to wear. Continue reading “Road Trip Spring 2021 – Part 7 – Glen Arbor”
Road Trip Spring 2021 – Part 6 – a little tour with Dawn
As I said in a previous post, my friend Dawn came up to stay with me for 2 nights at the VRBO. On Wednesday after she finished up a work call, she took me around the area. First stop was ‘Fish Town’ in Leland MI. Continue reading “Road Trip Spring 2021 – Part 6 – a little tour with Dawn”
Road Trip Spring 2021 – Part 5 – little trip to the co-op in Traverse City
My first full day I spent a bit by myself, so I went for another walk around the VRBO and then decided to go to Traverse City to the co-op (Oryana – https://www.oryana.coop/) to pick up some groceries. My friend Dawn would be arriving on Tuesday and I said I would make dinner for everybody so I had a bunch of things to get. I decided to make Baingan Bhurta, an Indian eggplant/tomato stew. River and Adam are vegan, and this is one of my favorite dishes to make anyway, so, it all worked out. Continue reading “Road Trip Spring 2021 – Part 5 – little trip to the co-op in Traverse City”
Road Trip Spring 2021 – Part 4 – Cedar MI
After the Meijer Gardens, it was time to head to Cedar. The route the GPS took me on went up to Traverse City, then west to Cedar. I got an unexpected glimpse (and sniff) of Grand Traverse Bay. So beautiful! I was excited to see a lot of walking paths and a lot of people out and about. Continue reading “Road Trip Spring 2021 – Part 4 – Cedar MI”
Road Trip Spring 2021 – Part 3 – East Lansing MI to Cedar MI
While I was planning my route to get to Cedar from East Lansing, I noticed a sculpture garden that is in Grand Rapids, so I decided to stop in there on my way. Actually, it was a little bit out of my way, but I decided to stop in anyway – it got great reviews online. It’s called the Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park. Here’s a link: https://www.meijergardens.org/ Continue reading “Road Trip Spring 2021 – Part 3 – East Lansing MI to Cedar MI”
