This one will truly be short – I meant to write about this before but I forgot and I want to make sure I capture it. I went to Waimea before I did the Vanilla Farm Tour. Just had enough time to go to the Isaacs Art Center.
Thanksgiving 2021
Started raining Wednesday night and poured all day on Thanksgiving 11/25, so I decided to have a true spiritual day – two different types of meditation, yoga, cacao ceremony and painting. Continue reading “Thanksgiving 2021”
Back to Volcano and a stop in Pahala
Wednesday 11/24, the day before Thanksgiving, I was really itching to get out of Honomu. I had 2 prescriptions to pick up at the KTA Supermarket (after a previous non-successful attempt at filling them) and that was on the way to Volcano so I figured – what the heck? And I thought it would be fun to drive past Volcano and see where I ended up, so I just kept driving until it felt like time to turn around, which ended up being Pahala (in retrospect I wish I had gone a little further, but, I still have time to do so)
Kohala and Kawaihae
My new friends MCM and Melissa were up for a little trip to the west coast of the big island on Tuesday 11/23, so Kenn and I ventured over to Singing Whale Farm and we’d carpool from there.
Imiloa
I decided to take a trip to a planetarium in Hilo – Imiloa. They just reopened. They had three 2-hour blocks you could choose from to visit. I randomly picked the 1130 slot, which turned out perfect because the program they were doing in that slot was about navigating with the stars and I was the most interested in that topic of the three they had.
Visiting a Vanilla Farm
I was looking through a binder that the inn left in the room for guests, and came across a Vanilla Farm that does tours. One of the guidebooks I referred to didn’t seem too impressed with the tour, but I decided to do it anyway. They had 2 choices – have lunch and do the tour, or, just do the tour and get coffee and ice cream after. So, I decided to just do the tour. Continue reading “Visiting a Vanilla Farm”
Botanical World Adventures
I’m playing catch up again – in some ways there’s been a lot going on, and in some ways not. Don’t worry, I’ll fill you in later.
Anyway, on 11/15 I woke up feeling ‘off.’ I’ll post about that separately, but, I felt like I needed to get out of this room and give myself some outside time. It was raining – the first of 2 or 3 days of rain – but, I needed to get out anyway.
I looked at a map and saw that Botanical World Adventures is pretty close by. I called to see if it was open just to walk around (there are ziplines and Segway tours) and it was! Not only that, since they were slowly reopening, there was no charge to walk around. Perfect! Continue reading “Botanical World Adventures”
Hawaii Tropical Bioreserve and Garden
The other day I went to the Hawaii Tropical Bioreserve and Garden – it’s pretty close to Mahana House and it sounded cool. I took a ton of photos too. So, here goes!
Arriving at a new place and going for a walk
After sadly leaving the retreat, I followed River and Adam down the long, gravel driveway out to the main road. As it turns out, my GPS was unaware of the street they took to get to the retreat – as we were leaving the GPS map made it look like I wasn’t driving on a street! I was glad to find that out – now I’m not so sure how much I can trust the GPS. Continue reading “Arriving at a new place and going for a walk”
Onwards and Upwards – Part 4 – Ahu Lani Last Days
The next day we were all pretty tired and luckily there wasn’t a ton on the agenda to do. We had a yoga class, and time for journalling or other stuff, or just time to hang out with others. But, in the evening, we had our closing ceremony around a bonfire that Tanner set up for us! Continue reading “Onwards and Upwards – Part 4 – Ahu Lani Last Days”
Onwards and Upwards – Part 3 – Ahu Lani Day 5
I’m pretty sure we did the following on Monday 11/8 – a trip to Kona to hang at Magic Sands beach and then an evening swim with the Manta Rays. Continue reading “Onwards and Upwards – Part 3 – Ahu Lani Day 5”
Onwards and Upwards – Part 2 – Ahu Lani Day 3
I just put the title in, and I’m not sure I took photos every day so I may mess up what day we did what, but, oh well – you get the gist! Continue reading “Onwards and Upwards – Part 2 – Ahu Lani Day 3”
Onwards and Upwards – Part 1 – Ahu Lani Days 1 and 2
My last post I left off with my last sunrise in Hilo, for now anyway. I got everything packed up and in the car, and headed into Hilo to meet River, Adam and Lindsey so we could caravan over to the Kona side to pick up the retreat peeps. Continue reading “Onwards and Upwards – Part 1 – Ahu Lani Days 1 and 2”
Last Day in Hilo … for now
Just going to add a few photos from my last day in Hilo before heading to the retreat. The sushi was from the Hilo Bay Cafe – and it was really good! Continue reading “Last Day in Hilo … for now”
A great massage and a visit to the Kona side
Yesterday, 11/2, I had a massage, and boy it was one of the best massages I’ve ever had. Thinking I’ll get at least one more there before I leave the island – it was with Maya of Body Harmony, right in Hilotown. If you’re ever here – go check her out! Continue reading “A great massage and a visit to the Kona side”
